Battery Test Engineer

About the role

ALSO is building vertically integrated electric vehicles and needs a Battery Test Engineer to define and own the validation strategy for its battery systems. You will shape safety and performance testing from prototype through production, ensuring the vehicles meet reliability and efficiency goals.

Key responsibilities

• Define validation strategy, criteria for sign‑off, and test plans for electromechanical battery hardware.
• Design test methodologies that simulate real‑world operation, manufacturing variation, and long‑term usage across mechanical, electrical, and thermal domains.
• Build and commission prototype test rigs, select instrumentation, and perform root‑cause analysis on failures.
• Create fixtures, automation tools, and lab infrastructure to improve test repeatability and speed.
• Analyze test data, translate findings into design actions, and assess program risk.
• Collaborate with Battery Design, BMS, Systems, and Vehicle Engineering to align validation with real‑use cases.
• Coordinate with external labs, certification bodies, suppliers, and contract manufacturers for compliance activities.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong ability to bound problems using first‑principles reasoning (electrochemical, thermal, mechanical).
• Proven experience defining and signing off validation strategies for complex electromechanical assemblies.
• Hands‑on expertise in building test fixtures, instrumenting hardware, and conducting failure analysis.
• Comfort with both hardware prototyping and data‑driven decision making.
