Associate Attorney – Corporate Counsel

About the role

USAA is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its corporate headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. In this role you will provide legal counsel to internal business units, helping them achieve strategic objectives while managing regulatory and compliance risk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on routine and moderately complex matters across the organization.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and other contractual documents.
• Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards and advise leadership accordingly.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and the Chief Legal Office to align legal solutions with business goals.
• Support senior attorneys by conducting legal research and escalating high‑risk issues.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state or territory, or ability to obtain a license within 10 months of hire.
• 2–3 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, preferably in financial services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
