Assistant Staff-Psychology

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking an Assistant Staff Psychologist to join its multidisciplinary team in New Orleans. The role involves direct and indirect patient care, collaborating with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals to deliver high‑quality mental health services while upholding Ochsner’s core values of Patients First, Integrity, Compassion, Inclusivity, Teamwork and Excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Examine patients, formulate diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatments and medications.
• Document patient encounters promptly in the Electronic Health Record.
• Coordinate referrals and additional medical evaluations as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
• Ensure accurate coding of all patient visits and compliance with regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Board certified or eligible for certification in the physician’s primary specialty.
• Licensed MD or DO willing to maintain clinical practice.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation.
• Accurate medical coding of patient encounters.
