About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Assistant Public Defender (Attorney 2) to represent indigent clients in McIntosh County. This entry‑level position provides an opportunity to deliver zealous criminal defense in Superior Court while contributing to the public mission of the Georgia State Government.

Key responsibilities

• Represent indigent clients in criminal cases before Superior Court.
• Provide zealous advocacy and develop trusting attorney‑client relationships.
• Explain clients’ rights and guide them through investigative and judicial processes.
• Handle beginning‑level legal work and assist with cases of routine complexity.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.
• Current good‑standing membership in the State Bar of Georgia, or pending admission.
• Eligibility to sit for the Georgia Bar exam and obtain licensure within one year of hiring, or one year of relevant legal experience.
