Academic Internal Medicine Physician (Full‑Time)

About the role

Ochsner LSU Health System – Monroe Medical Center and LSU Health Sciences Center‑Shreveport are seeking an Internal Medicine physician for an academic, full‑time position. Candidates must be board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine, eligible for active Louisiana medical licensure, and may include graduating residents. The role is appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and combines patient care with teaching responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality treatment and diagnostic services as part of an expanding primary‑care team.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses to develop customized care plans.
• Offer physician leadership and input at all levels of administration.
• Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record platform for documentation and care coordination.
• Leverage on‑site refill center, ambient listening, LPN care coordinators, on‑call support, remote messaging, outpatient care managers, and digital medicine tools to improve efficiency and patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine.
• Eligibility for an active Louisiana medical license.
• Interest in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality patient care and participating in academic activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPIC EMR system.
• Experience using remote messaging or digital communication platforms for patient care.
