About the role
The Trades Technician – HVAC & Kitchen Equipment provides hands‑on installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning systems and commercial kitchen equipment across the University of Arkansas campus. This full‑time, fixed‑term position supports a safe, comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Install, service, and troubleshoot HVAC units, refrigeration systems, and kitchen appliances.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and respond to emergency service calls.
- Inspect equipment for safety compliance and document work performed.
- Coordinate with facilities staff to schedule repairs and upgrades.
- Maintain inventory of parts and tools, ordering supplies as needed.
Required profile
- Completed vocational training or apprenticeship in HVAC, refrigeration, or related trades.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., EPA, NATE) and a valid driver’s license.
- Experience working in a commercial or institutional setting.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Required skills
- HVAC system installation and maintenance.
- Commercial kitchen equipment repair.
- Refrigeration and climate‑control troubleshooting.
- Use of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment.
