Special Services Paraprofessional (ARI) – Classroom Support

About the role

The ARI Paraprofessional Special Services assists teachers in delivering effective classroom instruction and maintaining a supportive learning environment for students with special needs. This position works closely with the supervising teacher, principal, and district administrators to ensure each child receives individualized attention.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in daily and long‑range lesson planning and classroom activity design.
• Conduct learning exercises with small groups and guide children in collaborative play.
• Provide individualized support based on each child’s special needs, including escorting students and assisting with assignments.
• Maintain accurate records for each child, monitor health status, and promote good eating habits and table manners.
• Assist with classroom organization, supervision during play periods, and preparation of educational displays.
• Attend staff meetings, trainings, and serve on committees as required.
• Ensure the safety and proper use of district‑owned equipment and facilities.

Required profile

• Associate degree or higher from an accredited college, or at least 48 college credit hours.
• Alternatively, a high school diploma with a passing Work‑Keys test as defined by the Mississippi Department of Education.
• Ability to follow district policies, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
