Software Engineer I, Annotations

About the role

Handshake AI is building the infrastructure that powers AI data annotation at scale. As a Software Engineer I on the Annotations team, you will develop core backend platforms that enable operators to configure customer projects, manage complex tasking workflows, and ensure reliable delivery of data generation pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend systems that power project configuration and delivery workflows.
• Develop tools used by operators to set up and manage customer projects.
• Create scalable tasking and pipeline systems supporting complex data generation processes.
• Improve fellow tasking experiences through automation and workflow enhancements.
• Design extensible platform capabilities that can be leveraged by multiple teams across Handshake AI.
• Collaborate closely with operators, product managers, designers, and engineers to translate operational needs into efficient software solutions.

• Ability to work cross‑functionally with operators, product managers, designers, and engineering teams.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset for building reliable, flexible platform components.
