Senior Plant Designer (Oak Ridge)

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Plant Designer for its Oak Ridge, Tennessee site. The role covers mechanical and piping design within a plant design team, working with BIM tools and coordinating with engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop piping systems and equipment layouts in SmartPlant 3D or similar BIM design tools
• Prepare general equipment arrangement deliverables and assist with resolving interferences
• Work with Piping Engineering on pipe specifications and stress analysis support locations
• Work with Structural Engineering on pipe support designs and with Civil on underground interface connections
• Manage model outputs for material lists and reports, and integrate with other BIM tools such as Intelligent Schematics
• Occasional travel to the field, including near construction equipment and sometimes near hazardous machinery

Required profile

• Associate degree or higher
• 10+ years using BIM tools for plant design
• Chemical process industrial mechanical/piping design experience
• Nuclear piping design experience preferred
• Local to Oak Ridge, TN preferred; candidates with applicable experience are encouraged to apply despite travel requirements
• U.S. citizenship, valid driver's license, ability to work in a team, and passing a pre-employment drug and background check

Required skills

• General understanding of building mechanical systems: HVAC, piping and plumbing
• BIM tools such as SmartPlant 3D
