Senior Forklift Technician

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Senior Forklift Technician to repair and maintain a large fleet of forklifts and related equipment of various brands, predominantly Raymond. The fleet includes electric, gas- and diesel-powered units for interior and exterior building use, and the contractor also maintains pallet jacks and carts. The work is mostly indoors on concrete, with occasional outdoor work in adverse weather.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, prioritize, inspect and repair forklifts, pallet jacks and carts, keeping vehicles mechanically ready and safe.
• Determine when major components need repair, rebuilding, replacement or discard, and prepare written estimates for cost and labour.
• Maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule approved by government focal points and manage a spare parts inventory.
• Assist with purchasing parts and services, and keep customers informed of vehicle status and repairs.
• Diagnose and isolate faults, replace worn parts, perform oil changes, fluid checks, battery charging and repair, and road test vehicles.
• Work independently but inform the government focal point if a task cannot be done safely alone.

Required profile

• Active Top Secret/SCI US Government clearance with polygraph; US citizenship is required to hold it.
• 10 years of experience diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a wide variety of forklifts.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Certified in safe forklift operation by the sponsor within 30 days of starting and every 24 months, certified for Raymond brand forklifts, and other relevant forklift certifications.

Required skills

• Knowledge of forklift operating systems and hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Reading technical manuals, service bulletins and specifications.
• Working knowledge of diesel, gas and electric mechanics, and welding simple parts.
• Microsoft Access and Microsoft Office Suite.
