About the role
This seasonal, full‑time position supports the Northwest Bat Hub by leading field crews and ensuring high‑quality acoustic monitoring of bat populations across Idaho and the broader Pacific Northwest.
Key responsibilities
- Lead field teams to locate and set up bat detectors in focal study areas.
- Plan and schedule surveys to meet sample‑size goals within the summer monitoring window.
- Determine optimal access routes and navigation strategies for remote survey sites.
- Perform quality‑assurance checks, troubleshoot detector issues, and maintain data integrity.
- Provide guidance and direction to student technicians during field operations.
Required profile
- Experience conducting wildlife or ecological fieldwork, preferably with bats.
- Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments.
- Strong organizational skills to manage survey schedules and equipment.
- Effective communication for coordinating with team members and stakeholders.
Required skills
- Operation and troubleshooting of bat acoustic detectors.
