About the role
The Earth Commons at Georgetown University is seeking a two‑year, full‑time Research Associate to lead the Hoya Harvest Garden. This role sits at the intersection of food production, sustainability, and social justice, providing food to those in need while offering educational experiences on sustainable agriculture to the campus community.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the Hoya Harvest Garden, including planting, maintenance, and harvest.
- Coordinate food distribution to local partners and campus programs.
- Develop and deliver educational workshops on sustainable agriculture and food justice.
- Collaborate with faculty, fellows, and external research partners on interdisciplinary projects.
- Support the Chief of Staff in reporting and administrative tasks related to the Earth Commons.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one year of hands‑on gardening or farming experience.
- Strong organizational and communication abilities.
- Passion for sustainable and equitable food systems.
- Willingness to work outdoors in varied conditions and lift up to 40 lbs.
