Principal Cyber Threat Intelligence Specialist

About the role

The University of Miami’s Information Technology & Systems Department is seeking a senior expert to lead its enterprise threat intelligence program. This full‑time position will shape AI‑enabled cyber‑defense strategies across academic, research, healthcare, and administrative environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the university‑wide threat intelligence program, integrating internal, commercial, government and industry sources.
• Develop intelligence‑driven detection, hunting and proactive defense capabilities.
• Translate threat intelligence into actionable detection content, response procedures and risk mitigation plans.
• Serve as the principal subject‑matter expert for AI‑enabled security operations and automation.
• Design, implement and optimize AI‑powered workflows, playbooks, knowledge repositories and automated agents to improve SOC efficiency.
• Establish governance, standards and security controls for responsible AI use in cybersecurity.
• Enhance enterprise security monitoring, analytics, reporting and orchestration to increase threat visibility and vulnerability prioritization.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in cyber threat intelligence and security operations within large, complex organizations.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives without direct supervisory responsibility.
• Strong collaboration skills with technology, clinical, research and administrative stakeholders.
• Strategic mindset focused on improving detection, response and risk management.
