Postdoctoral Researcher in Microdevice & Sensor Systems

About the role

The Microdevices Laboratory at JPL seeks outstanding postdoctoral researchers to develop advanced microdevice technologies for future NASA missions. The role focuses on long‑term technology development in integrated optics, nano‑photonics, quantum sensors, and harsh‑environment microsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and test micro‑ and nano‑scale devices and subsystems.
• Collaborate with JPL advisors and interdisciplinary teams to publish research findings.
• Develop new microfabrication processes and evaluate their suitability for space missions.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with micro‑/nanofabrication and cleanroom environments.
• Proven ability to conduct independent and collaborative research.

Required skills

• Advanced lithographic techniques (e.g., DRIE, thin‑film deposition).
• Micro‑/nanofabrication processes and cleanroom protocols.
• Scientific writing and oral communication for publications and presentations.
