Phlebotomist 1 – Full‑Time, 1st Shift

About the role

The University of Miami Health Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 1 to join the U‑Tower Hospital team. Working the 1st shift (4 am – 12:30 pm), you will draw blood, verify patient records, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis while providing compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology specimens and manage pre‑accession tasks.
• Verify patient identity, answer test‑related queries, and resolve specimen issues.
• Maintain inventory, rotate stock, and keep accurate logs and files.
• Assist the supervisor with statistical reporting and generate required reports.
• Process cancellations, credits, and additions of test procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomist certification, HIV certification, and BLS certification (AHA).
• Minimum one year of relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to confidentiality and university core values.
