Part-time Adjunct Instructor – National Security & Military Studies

About the role

We are seeking part‑time adjunct instructors to join the Institute for National Security and Military Studies at Austin Peay State University. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in areas such as intelligence analysis, security strategy, international law, and related subjects, using face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid formats.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver assigned courses in person, online, or hybrid, following the department’s curriculum.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with academic standards.
• Engage students through interactive teaching methods and provide timely feedback.
• Maintain academic integrity and comply with university policies, including background checks.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in National Security Studies, Intelligence Studies, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, or a closely related field.
• At least 18 graduate credit hours in national‑security‑focused coursework.
• Demonstrated ability to teach a broad range of national‑security‑related subjects.
• Experience delivering instruction via multiple delivery methods (online, hybrid, face‑to‑face).

Required skills

• Proficiency in academic course design and assessment.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual classroom tools.
