National Operations Specialist – Student Housing

About the role

We are seeking a National Operations Specialist to provide on‑site leadership and strategic direction across our student‑housing portfolio. The role is remote with extensive travel, stepping in during staffing transitions or training needs to ensure operational continuity and drive occupancy and revenue goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide interim on‑site leadership alongside Regional Managers during staffing changes.
• Lead, coach, and develop site teams including Property Managers, Leasing & Marketing Managers, Maintenance, and Community Assistants.
• Oversee full property operations: leasing performance, marketing execution, financial management, and resident experience.
• Assume Property Manager duties when required, handling resident move‑outs, property turns, and move‑ins.
• Analyze budgets and monthly financial statements to identify variances and maintain fiscal accountability.
• Partner with revenue strategy on pricing, concessions, and leasing tactics based on traffic and conversion trends.
• Facilitate resident mediation and conflict resolution to sustain community culture and retention.
• Travel across 30+ markets nationwide to gain exposure to diverse operational models.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable experience in student housing.
• 3+ years of experience as a Property Manager or equivalent role.
• Strong knowledge of local university markets and competition.
• Excellent planning, communication, and customer‑service skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% and live within one hour of a major airport.
