Maintenance Technician

About the role

3M is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its Texas facility. You will work hands‑on with a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring reliable operation and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, clutches, brakes, valves, motors and couplings.
• Maintain and adjust hydraulic and pneumatic machinery, variable‑speed drives, conveyors, HVAC systems and extruders.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, replace or correct parts, and perform preventive maintenance.
• Assist the maintenance team with mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
• Modify and troubleshoot PLC, HMI and control system programs.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or higher.
• Two‑year technical diploma or three + years of maintenance experience in a private, public, government or military setting.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, shift work and on‑call assignments.
• Five years of manufacturing equipment installation and troubleshooting experience is preferred.

Required skills

• Mechanical troubleshooting of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, clutches, brakes, valves, motors and couplings.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
• Experience with variable‑speed power transmission, conveyors, HVAC and extruders.
• PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen Bradley, Siemens Step7).
• HMI configuration and ladder‑logic interpretation.
• Working with 480 VAC and 700 VDC electrical systems.
• Reading and interpreting equipment manuals, engineering drawings and prints.
