Locksmith II – Campus Security (Capitol Campus)

About the role

The Locksmith II is a full‑time, emergency‑essential employee responsible for maintaining, installing, inspecting and repairing both electronic and manual lock systems across Georgetown University’s Capitol Campus. The role supports campus security, assists colleagues with access issues, and helps train junior locksmith staff.

Key responsibilities

• Install, replace, and repair door locks, door closers and related hardware.
• Cut keys, provision key fobs, and maintain master‑keying systems.
• Perform journey‑level maintenance and preventive inspections on electronic access control systems.
• Respond to emergency lockouts, provide on‑call support on a rotating 24‑hour schedule, and handle lock picking as needed.
• Survey buildings to determine lock system requirements and set up key systems.
• Maintain a computer database tracking all work performed.
• Serve as Section Leader, guiding junior locksmiths and ensuring quality workmanship.

Required profile

• Experience in professional locksmith work, including both mechanical and electronic systems.
• Ability to work independently, follow codes and regulations, and provide on‑call emergency support.
• Strong attention to detail and safety compliance.
• Capacity to train and mentor junior staff.
