Locates Technician – Underground Utility Identification

About the role

Ezee Fiber is looking for a detail‑oriented Locates Technician to identify and mark the location of underground fiber lines. You will work outdoors, using specialized equipment and software to protect our infrastructure and support safe excavation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate pipe and cable locators to detect underground utilities and determine depth.
• Mark identified utilities on site with paint, flags or stakes.
• Collaborate with construction crews, contractors, engineers and utility partners to coordinate locate activities.
• Use Konterra and 3GIS mapping tools to create, track and close locate tickets.
• Document work with accurate photos and reports.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency tickets as scheduled.
• Stay current on locating techniques, equipment and safety standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in fiber optics are a plus.
• 6 months to 2 years of experience in utility locating, construction, surveying or a related field.
• Ability to read utility maps, blueprints and survey drawings.
• Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
