Linux Systems Administrator (Azure Based)

About the role

Space Dynamics Laboratory is looking for two Linux Systems Administrators to design, deploy, and manage secure Linux environments in a Microsoft Azure Government (GCC High) setting. The role focuses on building hardened configurations, ensuring compliance with CMMC standards, and supporting both server and endpoint workloads across hybrid cloud and on‑premises infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain hardened Linux systems (RHEL/Ubuntu) across servers and endpoints in Azure Government and on‑premises.
• Configure encryption at rest (LUKS) and in transit (TLS/PKI) and integrate secure email encryption (S/MIME with Sectigo or equivalent).
• Integrate Linux systems with enterprise identity (IDAM) and MFA solutions for both online and offline scenarios.
• Manage PAM policies for authentication and privileged access.
• Deploy and maintain EDR solutions, such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint for Linux.
• Set up centralized logging with Rsyslog and forward logs to Microsoft Sentinel.
• Oversee patching, updates, and software lifecycle across all Linux assets.
• Maintain secure connectivity between on‑premises and Azure resources.
• Support audit readiness and continuous monitoring for CMMC compliance.
• Troubleshoot system, security, and integration issues in hybrid environments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, or similar) on servers and/or endpoints.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• Valid CompTIA Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Required skills

• Linux system administration (RHEL, Ubuntu).
• Disk encryption (LUKS) and secure communication protocols (TLS/PKI).
• Linux authentication (PAM) and enterprise identity integration with MFA.
• Endpoint Detection & Response (Microsoft Defender for Endpoint – Linux).
• Centralized logging (Rsyslog) and SIEM integration (Microsoft Sentinel).
• Patch management and software distribution for Linux.
• Experience with Azure, Azure Government, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Automation tools (Ansible, Bash) and configuration management (Azure Arc, Foreman, Red Hat Satellite) – preferred.
• Familiarity with CMMC compliance frameworks.
