Light Vehicle Technician (Levels I, II & III)

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Light Vehicle Technician for Levels I, II and III. The technician inspects, services and repairs light vehicles, snowmobiles and equipment, works with diagnostic tools and test equipment, and maintains accurate records of inspections and work performed. The role involves operating shop equipment and recovery vehicles, sometimes outdoors in extreme cold.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, service and repair light vehicles, snowmobiles and equipment according to schedule
• Use diagnostic procedures and test equipment to identify and correct faults
• Maintain detailed records of inspections and work performed
• Operate shop equipment such as welders, compressors, presses and wheel alignment equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and service
• Operate a recovery vehicle and perform recovery functions, sometimes outdoors in extreme conditions
• Work safely and accurately, complying with environmental, safety, health and quality assurance requirements
• Keep the workplace clean and safe, and perform other duties as required

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Level I: at least two years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Level II: at least four years' experience, or three years plus one summer or winter Antarctic deployment as a Level I technician
• Level III: at least seven years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; Level III candidates must pass an oral exam on mechanical, electrical and computer systems
• Ability to lift and move items up to safety limits, climb in and out of equipment, crawl and work outdoors in extreme cold
• Willingness to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods, with medical, dental, drug screening, background checks and US citizenship (facility credentials)

Required skills

• ASE certifications and dealership certifications are a plus
• Preferred: one season of vehicle work in Antarctica, two years of technical school training, car dealership experience on a broad range of vehicles (specifically Ford), and experience with remote polar operations
