Investigation Specialist – Fixed Term (P-3) – New York

About the role

The Investigation Specialist (P‑3) will join UNICEF’s Office of Internal Audit & Investigation in New York on a fixed‑term basis. Reporting to the Chief of Strategy, Intake and Analysis, the role ensures that all investigations are legally sound and aligned with UN legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review investigation reports, findings and recommendations for legal sufficiency, factual integrity and compliance with applicable legal standards.
• Provide legal guidance to investigators throughout planning, fact‑gathering and reporting phases.
• Develop, maintain and update standard operating procedures, guidance materials and legal reference tools for the Investigation Service.
• Assist in assessing disciplinary actions linked to investigation outcomes.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in law or a related field.
• Proven experience in conducting or supporting investigations within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong knowledge of legal principles, procedural standards and relevant jurisprudence.
• Ability to produce clear, legally robust written products.
