Intermediate Architect

About the role

SOM is seeking an Intermediate Architect to join its interdisciplinary design teams. The role focuses on developing distinct portions of projects under the guidance of senior project leadership, contributing to sustainable and impactful built environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver project components such as diagrams, 3D models, drawings, renderings, physical models and animations.
• Collaborate with project teams, providing constructive feedback and integrating interdisciplinary criteria.
• Apply building material knowledge, systems, specifications, codes, details and construction techniques to enrich design concepts.
• Manage time and workload to meet task deadlines, reporting regularly to project leadership.
• Share knowledge and mentor less‑experienced staff.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Architecture or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience or equivalent knowledge.
• Professional licensure process in progress; LEED accreditation preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• 3D modeling and rendering.
• Production of physical models and animations.
• Understanding of building materials, systems, specifications, codes and construction techniques.
• LEED accreditation (preferred).
