HVAC Technician II - 3rd Shift

About the role

Amentum is looking for an HVAC Technician II for its East Peoria, IL site, working the 3rd shift (10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, subject to business demand) with rotating weekend on-call hours. The technician keeps buildings, facilities and equipment in working order, including refrigeration repairs, troubleshooting and air handler maintenance. The pay is $23.00-$27.00 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, pumps, fans, compressors and other mechanical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC controls and operating systems through the CMMS.
• Carry out electrical repairs or installations, plumbing, welding, machine servicing and general mechanical maintenance, including HVAC and sheet metal.
• Recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance, and coordinate with outside contractors.
• Follow safety rules such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout and PPE, and meet code and building standards.
• Report problems to leadership and perform other duties assigned to support the client.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, with 2 years of experience in the field.
• EPA 608 Universal certificate.
• Valid driver's license and ability to get a security badge at the client site.
• Ability to work from an aerial lift 30 ft or higher, lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs repeatedly, and work overtime, holidays and weekends.
• Willingness to wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat and other PPE.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
• Use of aerial lifting equipment and a utility knife.
• Differentiating wire colors and reading color-coded wiring.
