French Teacher (Grades 7-12)

About the role

The school seeks a dedicated French Teacher to instruct students in grades 7‑12. Reporting to the School Principal, the teacher will develop students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing French while fostering appreciation of Francophone cultures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and administer a foreign‑language curriculum consistent with district goals.
• Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and sequential assignments that challenge students and maximize instructional time.
• Teach comprehension, grammar, syntax, composition, vocabulary, colloquialisms, and translation of literature.
• Promote understanding and appreciation of cultures where French is a primary language.
• Prepare student work for literary publications, contests, and other showcases.
• Assess student progress continuously and adapt instruction for individual and small‑group needs, including students with special needs.
• Maintain accurate records of grading, attendance, and student achievement in compliance with district policies.
• Encourage parental involvement and maintain effective communication with families.
• Collaborate with grade‑level teams, attend faculty meetings, and participate in committees.
• Select and manage instructional resources, maintaining inventory of books and supplies.

• Demonstrates ability to develop curriculum and assess student learning.
• Commits to ongoing professional development through seminars, workshops, or research.
• Maintains a safe, inclusive classroom environment and upholds school conduct standards.
