Floating Maintenance Technician (Charlottesville, VA)

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Floating Maintenance Technician to ensure that all building systems, grounds, and common areas meet the company’s standards for safety, appearance, and functionality. The role supports multiple properties, performing both reactive repairs and preventative maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to resident service requests and complete work orders in accordance with safety standards and code requirements.
• Perform the make‑ready process for vacant units, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, and final quality checks.
• Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
• Document all service activities accurately and promptly for tracking and reporting purposes.
• Assist with grounds upkeep by removing trash, pressure‑washing breezeways and pool areas, and performing general cleaning and painting of curbs and signage.
• Support cost‑control initiatives by repairing parts when feasible and minimizing waste of materials.

Required profile

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb ladders, reach, carry objects, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor and handle tools and equipment safely.

Required skills

• Diagnostic troubleshooting of mechanical and building systems.
• Pressure‑washing equipment operation.
• Basic painting and surface preparation.
• General maintenance and repair techniques using hand and power tools.
