Executive Director, Rates Sales – West Coast

About the role

Santander is seeking an experienced Institutional Sales professional to lead its Rates Sales team on the West Coast. This front‑office position focuses on building and deepening relationships with institutional clients while delivering market insight and trade ideas across interest‑rate products.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and grow relationships with institutional clients such as asset managers, hedge funds, banks, insurance companies, pension funds and municipalities.
• Provide coverage of rates derivatives (interest‑rate swaps, options) and cash products including Treasuries, Agencies, T‑bills, commercial paper and CDs.
• Deliver timely market commentary, macro‑rates analysis and actionable trade ideas tailored to client needs.
• Partner with Rates Trading to price, execute and support risk‑transfer transactions efficiently.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (sales management, risk, legal, compliance, operations, product control) to ensure high‑quality execution and documentation.
• Maintain disciplined coverage planning, pipeline reporting and commercial goal tracking.
• Identify cross‑sell opportunities and support client onboarding, product expansion and strategic initiatives.
• Uphold regulatory and conduct standards, including suitability, disclosures and documentation.

Required profile

• Significant front‑office experience in institutional rates sales or closely related fixed‑income sales roles.
• Strong working knowledge of rates markets, trade economics and how clients use Treasuries, agencies, money‑market instruments and rates derivatives.
• Proven ability to build and maintain institutional client relationships and deliver consistent commercial outcomes.
