Electrical Connector Technician

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Electrical Connector Technician to support the Prototyping Integration Facility (PIF) of the C5ISR center at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. The project integrates C5ISR operational prototypes onto military air, ground and sea weapon systems and platforms, and provides prototyping, integration and testing support for the U.S. Army, Army Futures Command, U.S. Special Forces and the U.S. Marine Corps.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate tools in a prototype development fabrication shop, with a focus on fabricating electrical connector components using sheet metal, machining, injection molding and 3-D printing.
• Work from engineering design drawings and technical specifications, maintaining dimensional accuracy within specified tolerances using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, gage blocks, surface and height gages and dial indicators.
• Fabricate mechanisms, models and instruments that meet engineering requirements.
• Determine the need for special tools, dies and fixtures for intricate machining and assembly operations.
• Set up and operate laser cutting, metal rolling, press brake and punch press machines as a primary duty; may also support CNC machines (machining center, lathe and milling machine).
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Help prepare fabrication programs, including scheduling, estimating and cost tracking in JOBBOSS.

Required profile

• High School Diploma.
• At least 8 years of experience as a Journeyman Machinist.
• US Government Secret Clearance, which requires US citizenship.

Required skills

• Machining and fabrication of electrical connector components.
• Knowledge of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) operation (preferred).
