DNA Examiner

About the role

Amentum is seeking a DNA Examiner based in Forest Park, GA, to support exploitation missions across the Continental United States and outside it, with deployment. The position is an evergreen, pipeline requisition with an ongoing need on the contract.

Key responsibilities

• Examine evidence in consultation with firearms and latent print analysts, ensuring the collection approach does not harm collection of other forensic data.
• Maintain proper chain of custody and collect potential DNA samples using approved procedures that minimise contamination risk, packaging, marking and storing them for extraction.
• Take still photographs of each evidence item and key parts to support analysis, conclusions and documentation.
• Generate STR DNA profiles from evidence and reference samples, and analyse and interpret data using probabilistic genotyping software.
• Annotate case files, generate reports on processing techniques and results, and perform administrative and technical reviews of reports and worksheets.
• Perform instrument maintenance.

Required profile

• At least one year of independent experience in a forensic laboratory performing DNA analysis on criminal evidence and/or intelligence exploitation.
• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a forensic-related field, with coursework in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, statistics and/or population genetics.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance (US citizenship required); ability to obtain a US passport and pass a medical assessment per customer requirements.
