Digital Component Engineer

About the role

Amentum, a partner to U.S. government agencies, allied governments and corporations, is looking for an electrical engineer focused on digital components (digital integrated circuits). The engineer supports the life cycle of strategic electronic components, working with the Program Office, prime contractors, designers, DLA, parts manufacturers and test labs. The role is hybrid: telework on Mondays and Fridays, on site Tuesday through Thursday.

Key responsibilities

• Support the technologist team with digital component engineering, including writing technical reports
• Advise military programs and designers on part selection
• Troubleshoot digital component issues and recommend solutions
• Interface with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs and other agencies
• Develop and review test plan documentation
• Provide full life-cycle support of strategic systems
• Support component test and evaluation, failure/material analysis and radiation effects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, preferably Electrical Engineering, and at least 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent
• Digital component engineering experience with IEEE parts quality and reliability standards
• Ability to communicate with customers, program offices, colleagues and contractors
• US citizenship, as a Secret clearance is required

Required skills

• Basic understanding of MIL-STD and the ability to compare military, industry, commercial and automotive standards
• Basic understanding of electrical testing of IEEE parts
• Microsoft Excel, with ability to learn advanced functions
• Willingness to learn best design practices for IEEE parts

Preferred qualifications

• Focus on ASICs, hybrid microcircuits or memory devices
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and radiation testing of IEEE parts
• Active Secret clearance
