About the role
The Customer Service Associate ensures a fast, accurate, and courteous checkout experience, building customer confidence and loyalty. This role involves operating the POS system, handling various payment methods, and maintaining a clean, efficient front‑end environment.
Key responsibilities
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for shoppers and address complaints promptly within company guidelines.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, processing cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, and reward offers.
- Manage self‑checkout lanes, open/close stations, print reports, and perform cash maintenance.
- Stock front‑end products, restock supplies efficiently, and return carts to the corral.
- Troubleshoot front‑end equipment issues or contact the retail service help desk as needed.
- Coordinate daily store cash functions and adhere to cash shortage/overage limits.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, USDA, COOL, and other regulatory standards, and execute product recalls.
- Report safety risks, accidents, and any illegal activity to management.
Required profile
- Professional demeanor with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and problem‑solving attitude.
- Honesty and integrity in handling cash and adhering to company policies.
- Willingness to assist in training new cashiers.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Cash handling and reconciliation.
- Processing electronic payments (credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC).
- Western Union and Money Order transaction processing.
- Utility payment system operation.
- Self‑checkout lane management.
- Basic equipment troubleshooting.
