Construction Controller – $200‑250k + Bonus

About the role

We are partnering with a growing organization in the Greater Philadelphia area to hire a hands‑on Controller with deep construction accounting expertise. The role combines strategic oversight with day‑to‑day financial operations across multiple active construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close and produce construction financial reports for several concurrent projects.
• Own job‑cost accounting and Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting, delivering real‑time visibility into project performance.
• Oversee project budgeting, forecasting, and cost‑to‑complete analysis.
• Monitor construction spend, commitments, and variances against budget.
• Manage change‑order tracking, approvals, and integration into job‑cost systems.
• Support lender reporting and construction draw processes as required.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and construction accounting procedures.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while improving processes and accountability.
• Partner closely with project management, field operations, and senior leadership teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of accounting/finance experience, including 5+ years in a controller or senior leadership role.
• Strong construction accounting background covering job costing, WIP, cost tracking, and project controls.
• Experience with general contractors, developers, or construction‑focused organizations.
• Advanced understanding of the project lifecycle from pre‑construction through closeout.
