CH47 Aircraft Mechanic I

About the role

Amentum is hiring a CH47 Aircraft Mechanic I. The mechanic troubleshoots and repairs aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneumatic, engine, auxiliary power unit and ventilation and heating systems, and reads manufacturer and airline maintenance manuals to determine repair methods.

Key responsibilities

• Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic and other hourly or calendar inspections, and examine reciprocating and jet engines for defects.
• Replace or repair worn or damaged engine and airframe components, remove and reassemble engines, and adjust electrical wiring and accessories.
• Carry out preflight, in-flight and post-flight inspections, and perform miscellaneous servicing such as flushing crankcases, cleaning filters and greasing moving parts.
• Supervise jacking and towing of aircraft, enter maintenance records and verify completed work.
• Service engines and airframe components at the line station, and possibly specialize in structural, precision and functional spare parts or engine repair.

Required profile

• Valid up-to-date A&P license, or three years of aviation maintenance experience including two years on rotary-wing aircraft and two years on the assigned CH47 (MDS).
• US citizenship, as it is required to obtain the NAC-I T1 Public Trust clearance.
• Own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.
• Ability to climb, stand, bend and lift parts up to 20 pounds occasionally, and to work in hangars or outdoors, including in extreme weather and noise.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems.
• Reading, applying and interpreting technical data and service bulletins.
• Use of hand tools, gauges, torque wrenches and test equipment.
• Quality control, production and supply procedures.
