Cargo Handler – Loading and Unloading Freight (Shift)

About the role

Forward Air is looking for reliable, career‑oriented individuals to join its fast‑paced shipping and dock operation. As a Cargo Handler you will load and unload freight from 53‑ft trailers, ensuring safety and efficiency throughout the shift.

Key responsibilities

• Load and unload commercial trailers using hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts.
• Operate handheld scanners to track and move freight within the distribution network.
• Label boxes accurately and prepare shipments for dispatch.
• Verify freight documentation and condition to meet quality standards.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Strong team player comfortable in a fast‑moving environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends and overtime when needed.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb regularly and up to 90 lb occasionally.

Required skills

• Forklift operation (certification required).
• Handheld scanner usage.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Basic computer and data‑entry skills.
• Experience with or ability to learn track‑and‑trace systems.
