Benchmarking Intern

About the role

Join Atelier Ten’s San Francisco office as a Benchmarking Intern, supporting the team in delivering high‑performance, sustainable building projects. You will gain hands‑on experience with leading green building certification programs while working alongside designers, engineers, and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of reports, memos, and technical documentation for sustainability certifications.
• Support LEED, ILFI, SITES, Fitwel and WELL program administration, including feasibility analysis of credits.
• Create graphic illustrations and visual aids to communicate design options.
• Collaborate with design and construction teams to identify opportunities in daylighting, energy, water, thermal comfort, occupant health, and sustainable materials.
• Contribute to multiple project types, from offices and labs to large master‑plan developments.

Required profile

• Pursuing or completed a bachelor’s degree in environmental building design, architecture, architectural engineering, or building science.
• Curious, proactive, self‑motivated, and eager to learn across diverse projects.
• Strong interest in sustainability and high‑performance building design.

Required skills

• Experience with LEED certification processes.
• Familiarity with ILFI, SITES, Fitwel, or WELL certification systems.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and graphic illustrations.
