Automotive Worker (2nd Shift)

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Automotive Worker for the 2nd shift. The worker performs a variety of minor repairs and services to keep motor vehicles running, with duties that require an understanding of simple vehicle maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Place and maintain decals, check and replace batteries, rotate, repair and replace tires, and wash, polish and clean vehicles.
• Drain, flush and replace engine, transmission and differential greases and oils; check, clean, calibrate and replace spark plugs; clean and replace oil and air filters.
• Adjust brakes, replace windshield wipers and similar minor parts; assist on major overhauls by disassembling and cleaning parts and repairing components such as generators and water pumps.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep work areas clean.
• Follow the applicable Technical Manual for each vehicle and work assigned, and complete the paperwork for maintenance and repairs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One or more years of experience and specific knowledge of vehicle maintenance, through schooling or verifiable on-the-job experience.
• Valid and current state driver's license.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights, climb in and out of vehicles, work outdoors in extreme conditions, and work under pressure and on short notice.
• Team player; shift work and nights, weekends and holidays may be required.

Required skills

• Proper use of a variety of automotive tools, including hand tools and hydraulic equipment.
• Understanding and use of Technical Manuals.
• Preferred: military tactical vehicle maintenance, ASE and/or diesel mechanic certifications, and field repair and recovery experience.
