Assistant General Manager – Luxury Boutique Hotel

About the role

The Ivy Hotel, a 17‑room luxury boutique property in Baltimore’s historic Mount Vernon district, is seeking a polished and highly engaged Assistant General Manager. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will partner in overseeing daily operations of both the hotel and its restaurant, Magdalena, ensuring the personalized experience that defines the brand.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a visible, welcoming presence for guests, VIPs, and repeat visitors, anticipating needs and handling concerns with discretion.
• Oversee daily operations across Concierge, Reservations, Housekeeping, Security, and Food & Beverage, conducting regular walkthroughs to maintain high standards.
• Support department leaders, facilitate communication, and provide Manager on Duty coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Recruit, onboard, train, and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and accountable workplace culture.
• Assist with scheduling, payroll oversight, labor productivity monitoring, and expense control to meet budget goals while preserving service quality.
• Participate in property tours, prospective guest engagements, and act as the operational point person for special events and VIP stays.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in luxury hospitality operations.
• Strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and a service‑first mindset.
• Ability to move fluidly between service, leadership, and problem‑solving.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a visible, hands‑on leadership style.
