Aircraft Worker – H-1/H-60 Helicopters, Kirtland AFB

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Worker for Kirtland AFB, working under the direction of the Aircraft Mechanic Lead and Production Supervisor. The position covers aircraft launch and recovery, ground handling, servicing, maintenance actions and record keeping, with a focus on H-1 and H-60 helicopters.

Key responsibilities

• Launch and recover aircraft, perform required inspections and advise the Lead Mechanic of airworthiness deficiencies
• Ground handle and service aircraft, adjust, align and calibrate components, and rig, track and balance rotor systems
• Check fuel, hydraulic, engine, avionics and environmental systems; perform refurbishment and phase maintenance
• Maintain maintenance records, forms and historical documents, and use IMDS for maintenance actions
• Order and receive parts, prepare them for return to supply, and inventory support equipment
• Maintain tools and powered support equipment, and operate vehicles as required
• Train new personnel, comply with safety, bioenvironmental, security and housekeeping standards, and work any shift including weekends

Required profile

• At least one year of recent (within the past three years) H-60 or UH-1N aircraft maintenance experience
• Military aviation technical school (CDC or equivalent) or an Airframe and Power Plant license, plus a high school diploma or equivalent
• Current civilian driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a government flight line driver's license
• Ability to obtain and maintain Restricted Area Badge (Position of Trust) clearance
• Willingness to work any shift, travel infrequently (<10%) and lift up to 50 lbs

Required skills

• Working knowledge of technical orders, publications and IMDS (input and extract data)
• Use of hand and special tools and testers
• Desirable: aircraft troubleshooting, sheet-metal repair, electrical theory, vibration analysis and in-flight functional check capability
