Aircraft Mechanic III / Maintenance Control (F/A-18)

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic III / Maintenance Control (NAMCE) at NAS Lemoore, working on F/A-18 E/F/G aircraft. The position is for a Safe-For-Flight (SFF) qualified mechanic who services, repairs and overhauls aircraft to ensure airworthiness.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, replace and rebuild aircraft structures of moderate difficulty, such as wings, fuselage, surface controls and functional components, using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills.
• Read and interpret manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and specifications to determine how to repair or replace damaged components.
• Inspect aircraft components for fluid leaks, cracks and other damage, and troubleshoot, remove, replace and repair structural and hydraulic system components.
• Maintain and service F/A-18 aircraft systems and components in line with applicable publications and instructions, and recommend changes to installation specifications.
• Work on all aircraft systems beyond the Aircraft Mechanic III field of expertise as a general Aircraft Mechanic III.
• As required by site management, be certified as a CDI, and be able to prioritize workload to meet schedules and maintenance standards.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Navy Aviation Class A School (or military equivalent) for an applied rate, or a valid A&P license with recent aviation maintenance experience.
• 10 years of O-level aircraft system maintenance experience, of which 5 years must be as a Qualified Safe For Flight or Quality Assurance Supervisor on F/A-18s.
• Ability to complete the SFF qualification syllabus and obtain SFF within 30 days of employment, and to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 US Government clearance (US citizenship required).
• Completed CNATTU course C-555-0053; shift work is required.
• Physically able to perform all duties and lift 50 lbs; able to read, write and speak English.

Required skills

• Knowledge and use of special tools and equipment needed for assigned maintenance tasks.
• Ability to inspect and maintain company and customer assets, including PPE, and to investigate injuries and quality problems.
• Participate in training and qualification of new personnel, and in daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training.

• Pay of $52.08 per hour, plus $8.30 per hour for health and welfare up to 40 hours per week.
