Aircraft Mechanic - Customs and Border Protection

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Aircraft Mechanic for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The CBP Aircraft Mechanic maintains and repairs aircraft structures and components of moderate difficulty, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical parts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily, flight-line and hangar maintenance on assigned aircraft
• Inspect, control corrosion, troubleshoot and isolate faults in aircraft systems
• Use technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to diagnose malfunctions and restore equipment condition or operation
• Solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting blueprints and manufacturers' manuals
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by Customs
• Occasionally lead teams on complex aircraft tasks, make entries in aircraft logs and records, and prioritize workload schedules
• Periodically travel in support of customers' missions

Required profile

• Current airframe and power plant (A&P) mechanic license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP background investigation suitability clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• Competent in repairing airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems and aircraft engines
• Knowledge of military and general aviation aircraft logbooks and basic electrical theory
• Proficiency in Office software, especially Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• Physical ability to stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead and lift up to 50 lbs; ability to read, write and speak English

Preferred: employed as a full-time aircraft mechanic in the past 12 months, with 3-5 years of full-time experience.
