AGE Mechanic (Aircraft Ground Equipment)

About the role

Amentum is hiring an AGE Mechanic to support an Aircraft Ground Equipment (AGE) / Ground Support Equipment (GSE) shop. The mechanic ensures timely maintenance of scheduled and unscheduled AGE/GSE equipment and light support vehicles, and reports to the Supervisor. The position is hourly and overtime-eligible under the Service Contract Act.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain Aviation Support Equipment (AvSE) and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on AGE/GSE
• Inspect, test and operate AGE/GSE to determine serviceability, and diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions
• Disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble and reinstall AGE/GSE components and accessories, and mark them according to technical publications
• Order replacement parts from technical orders and documents, and dispose of hazardous materials in line with environmental regulations
• Service equipment with fuel, oil, coolant, water, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant and compressed air, and service tow vehicles
• Maintain and update equipment records, provide dispatch service and position equipment for aircraft maintenance and flying operations
• Follow safety procedures, technical orders, and the company's safety, quality and procedure-compliance requirements

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 3 years of AGE/GSE maintenance experience
• Valid driver's license and ability to operate a government general-purpose vehicle
• Ability to pass and maintain a security clearance; domestic and international travel may be required
• Physical demands include lifting 15-25 pounds regularly and occasional loads over 45 pounds, and working in a shop environment with moving vehicles and loud noise
