About the role
The Accessibility Specialist supports students with identified disabilities by creating an inclusive learning environment at Saint Louis University. This role involves reviewing documentation, determining accommodations, and collaborating with faculty and campus partners.
Key responsibilities
- Review diagnostic documentation and meet with students to determine reasonable academic accommodations.
- Maintain regular contact with students registered with the CADR office and coordinate with campus resources.
- Assist with testing center operations, exam‑related accommodations, and provision of alternate format texts and adaptive technology.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate staff, conduct onboarding and training, and promote staff development.
- Develop retention‑focused initiatives, peer‑lead programs, and online support resources.
- Provide consultation to faculty and staff on supporting students with physical, learning, or psychological disabilities.
- Manage the CADR Instagram account, create accessible content, and track postings.
- Create departmental surveys, analyze data, and report outcomes.
Required profile
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a higher‑education setting.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and university policies regarding accessibility.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to build partnerships across campus departments.
Required skills
- Familiarity with accessible technology and alternate format production.
- Social media management (Instagram) and content design.
- Survey design and data analysis.
