Vice President, Controller – North America

About the role

This senior finance position leads the North America accounting function for a global insurance organization. The role combines hands‑on accounting oversight with strategic partnership to executive leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the North America accounting team, overseeing general ledger, month‑end close, and financial reporting processes.
• Prepare timely GAAP and STAT financial statements for the region.
• Drive consistency, scalability, and process improvements across entities and business units.
• Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy, reporting insights, and regulatory matters.
• Oversee internal controls, compliance, and coordinate internal and external audits.
• Manage and develop a large, directly and indirectly reporting accounting team.
• Collaborate with global finance leadership on cross‑border initiatives and reporting alignment.

Required profile

• CPA certification.
• Extensive insurance industry experience (life, P&C, reinsurance, etc.).
• Significant exposure to large insurance clients, either from Big 4 or Top 10 public accounting firms.
• Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and STAT accounting.
• Proven track record leading large accounting teams in complex, multi‑entity or global environments.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
