Temporary Production Associate – Election Decision Desk

About the role

Join the ABC News Decision Desk as a temporary Production Associate, supporting the team that delivers real‑time election projections, delegate estimates, and editorial content across ABC’s broadcast, digital, and audio platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and operate the ABC Vote, AP, and SSRS applications.
• Test election computer systems to ensure real‑time data from AP and SSRS is accurately displayed at state, congressional district, county, and precinct levels.
• Assist during rehearsals, trainings, and on election nights to keep operations running smoothly.
• Help allocate delegates on primary nights based on vote analysis.
• Staff the two‑person Help Desk on election nights, providing technical assistance to correspondents, producers, and the news division.
• Provide logistical and administrative support, including answering phones, ordering supplies, and booking travel.

Required profile

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
• Interest in politics is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree, current university enrollment, or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) or similar reporting tools.
