Technical Accounting Lead

About the role

Sierra is seeking a Technical Accounting Lead to own technical accounting, drive finance transformation, and ensure compliance with US GAAP and disclosure requirements. This role will partner with finance, audit, and product teams to build an AI‑first accounting function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead documentation of all technical accounting policies (cost of revenue, allocations, leases, revenue, stock‑based compensation, fixed assets, etc.).
• Serve as an advisor on strategic investments, acquisitions, and partnerships.
• Review monthly financials for adherence to accounting policies and ensure proper presentation of balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
• Lead audit and IPO readiness efforts, coordinating with external auditors on quarterly and annual requirements.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives leveraging AI and modern tooling, and enhance the tech stack for AI capabilities.

Required profile

• CPA license.
• 2‑5+ years experience at a Big Four firm, preferably servicing public companies.
• 2‑5+ years in‑house experience at a high‑growth enterprise software company.
• Proficient in US GAAP.
• Ability to identify improvement areas and build AI‑enabled solutions.
• Desire to drive operational efficiency and scale the accounting function.
• Structured, self‑directed, detail‑oriented builder who can design, run, and continuously improve processes.
