Tax Staff – All Levels (Public Accounting)

About the role

Our client, a public accounting firm, is looking for experienced Tax Staff to join their Woodbury, NY office. You will work with a diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients, handling complex tax returns and providing strategic tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for S corporations, C corporations, partnerships, and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Address industry‑specific tax issues such as construction job costing and international tax matters in software and manufacturing.
• Deliver proactive tax planning and strategy recommendations to minimize liabilities and improve client profitability.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, gathering financial information and responding to tax‑related inquiries.
• Research complex tax issues, stay current on tax law changes, and ensure compliance with all regulations.
• Support clients in tax controversy matters, including audits, IRS/state notices, and dispute resolution.
• Coordinate with bookkeeping teams and assist with accounting and financial‑statement matters to ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Mentor and review the work of staff accountants, supporting their professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax.
• Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations across multiple entity types.
• Proven ability to provide tax planning and advisory services with minimal supervision.
• CPA license required or in progress.
