Systems Administrator

About the role

The Dirks Group is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join its MSP team in Wausau, Wisconsin. This senior‑level, hands‑on position will own client environments, lead technical projects, and act as a key escalation point for complex issues.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and continuously improve client networking, server, and cloud infrastructure.
• Work with firewalls, switches, wireless, VPNs, physical/virtual servers, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
• Serve as senior escalation point, perform root‑cause analysis, and resolve advanced problems.
• Lead client‑facing projects such as migrations, upgrades, and new implementations.
• Define and document infrastructure standards and major configuration changes.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams on technical planning and roadmaps.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of experience in a technical role, preferably within an MSP.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching).
• Hands‑on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security appliances.
• Experience supporting Windows Server and virtualization platforms (VMware or Hyper‑V).
• Proven experience with Azure and Microsoft 365, including hybrid environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues independently and communicate clearly with clients.
• Willingness to participate in an on‑call rotation.
