Surgical/Scrub Tech Educator – Main OR

About the role

The Surgical/Scrub Tech Educator for the Main Operating Room will join the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ instructional development team. This full‑time, day‑shift position focuses on training and mentoring surgical and scrub technicians to ensure high‑quality patient care and compliance with OR standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver curriculum for scrub techs and surgical assistants in the main OR.
• Conduct hands‑on training sessions, simulations, and competency assessments.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and peri‑operative staff to align education with clinical practice.
• Maintain training records, evaluate program effectiveness, and update materials as needed.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current UAMS employee (including student employees or graduate assistants) with legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong knowledge of operating room workflows and surgical instrumentation.
• Excellent communication and teaching abilities.
• Commitment to diversity, teamwork, and patient safety.
