Summer Intern – Digital Money & Payments R&D

About the role
This internship supports the Federal Reserve System’s research and development on the future of money and payments. You will work with a world‑class team exploring digital currency, tokenized assets, smart contracts, wholesale settlement services, ledger design, and advanced cryptography, while gaining exposure to the central bank’s role in the U.S. financial system.
Key responsibilities
- Interface with stakeholders across the Federal Reserve System and the Board of Governors to facilitate product and engineering outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Legal, Audit, Finance, and Procurement to identify and mitigate risks.
- Design and implement process improvements that increase team efficiency.
- Build reports and presentations for senior management.
- Support agile delivery practices, including PI planning and sprint execution.
Required profile
- Open to undergraduate or graduate students in economics, finance, business, law, engineering or related fields.
- Excellent project‑management capabilities and strong self‑motivation.
- Sophisticated user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and present ideas effectively.
